Every four years, global attention is focused on Indiana as the International Violin Competition of Indianapolis brings the world's most brilliant young violinists together in the capital city for a seventeen-day celebration of the violin. At the end of each celebration, the top six winners are named "Laureates" of that competition.
Since the first competition in 1982, many of these laureates have gone on to successful careers as concert violinists, recording artists, concertmasters and chamber musicians. The IVCI has created a Laureate Series to bring these violinists, most of whom had been audience favorites, back to Indiana. Through the new series, audiences can reconnect with the artists and once again enjoy their performances, this time in chamber and recital settings. While in Indiana, the laureates share their wealth of knowledge and experience statewide with students of all levels through educational residencies, master classes, and informances in the schools.
