Josef Gingold influenced thousands of musicians from around the world through a lifetime of teaching. In an effort to preserve his legacy, the International Violin Competition of Indianapolis is compiling the first record of Mr. Gingold's former students. This publication will list contact information as well as current and past positions. As a tribute to Mr. Gingold, the competition is establishing a Gingold Alumni Fund supported exclusively by former students. The proceeds will be used to fund a special prize at each competition in Gingold's honor. It will also provide support for annual educational workshops on topics such as Orchestral Auditioning, led by his pupils who now hold Concertmaster positions.
While we recognize that Mr. Gingold had many students of all instruments, it will only be possible to include his private and chamber music violin students in this publication.
